ESPN: UCLA’s Natural Advantages Lead The Nation

Great article on ESPN about UCLA’s tradition of excellence in sports. We knew it was coming … the articles of praise for reaching the 100 national championships milestone before any other school. Expect to see more during the coming year as UCLA promotes the “First To 100″ brand across all sports programs. It will be especially sweet for us at DD because it will serve as a constant reminder to Dorrell as to what he hasn’t come close to accomplishing in his 4 years. Forget national championship, how bout conference championship .. not even close. And while the Dorrell cult of apologists are quick to point out excuse after excuse the loud beacon of First To 100 drowns them out.

Our strength in athletics starts with our location and tradition of winning which every coach should be taking advantage. ESPN (HT to Nestor at BruinsNation):

UCLA has some built-in advantages. It’s much easier to attract the best student-athletes to an academically challenging institution in sunny California than, say, North Dakota. And of course, the Bruins’ long history of athletic success is tangible evidence for recruits that an NCAA championship is seemingly always within reach.
