New Replacement Poll Round #3

Note: Since Bellotti is out, here is the same poll as the one we put up minutes ago without Bellotti on it.

Alright … the past 24 hours has changed the landscape a bit with the dramatic announcments. There are serious decisions to make soon. The discussion has become more passionate. So now we are going to ask you to name THE CHOICE you would have Dan Guerrero make for our next head coach. Keep in mind, Morgan Center staffers get our daily email. Let them know who you want.

We are putting down only the names that have been named as candidates at one point or another by media reports (no Hill, Spurrier). We are eliminating names who have eliminated themselves (Chow, Peterson, Bellotti). And we are only including the top vote getters in our Round 2 poll (no Kelly, Mariucci, Mora Jr., Bowden). That leaves the candidates you see below. You can vote only once, choose only 1 candidate, and we will hide the results until later tonight.

Replacement Poll #2

Now that we know a little more about the names that are interested and that we are interested in it’s time to take another poll. The first poll came out in favor of Chris Peterson of Boise St. who quickly took himself out of the search. Now that Michigan scored big with Rich Rodriguez of West Virginia, chances are that Terry Bowden (WV alum) could be a frontrunner there. RR’s hiring though also frees up Brian Kelly of Cincinnati who was up until the end of last week pretty high on Michigan’s list. So take the time to vote below and let those Morgan Center staffers that read our daily email know who you want and don’t want to be our next head coach. You can vote for more than one coach, but you can vote only once.

BlogPoll Week 12

This week's BlogPoll ballot was another easy week (see all our BlogPoll ballots).  Too busy to comment on it other than to say we are also surprised that we put a Big East team in the #2 spot.   West Virginia has looked solid in their recent wins against Miami, Cincinnati and Rutgers.  Knowing what has happened this year in college football, they will probably lose to Connecticut this Saturday.  The delta is screwed up because we got the last poll in late. read more

BlogPoll Week 10

This week's BlogPoll ballot was another easy week (see all our BlogPoll ballots). Winners moved up, losers moved down. Last week we anticipated the loss by Boston College against Florida State as they really haven’t played that difficult of a schedule. The ACC and Big East are over rated in our book and we expect West Virginia to have one final fall out of the top 10 before this is done. Chances are the polls are still going to love them and they will get their BCS bowl and get blown out. Arizona State played Oregon tighter than we expected as did Alabama against LSU. Bama should have won that game. LSU is showing a bit of the good luck bug that Texas showed a couple years back.

It’s been a hectic we so we don’t have time to discuss our picks more than that. So, here is our ballot: read more

BlogPoll Week 9

This week's BlogPoll ballot was the easiest to fill out this year by far (see all our BlogPoll ballots). Winners moved up, losers moved down. Not much movement up top at all because there were really no surprises. Good thing, because we don’t have time to discuss our picks. Same as before, the Big East is over rated and proved it again, and soon so will BC and the ACC. So, here is our ballot: read more

BlogPoll Week 8

This week's BlogPoll was a little easier to fill in for a change (see all our BlogPoll ballots).  There weren't as many losses to top 25 teams.   South Florida lost as we thought they would thus vindicating our worse ranking for them than the media.  They drop significantly because aside from their win over a good Auburn team, that should have beaten LSU, they have only played Big East teams which are not impressing us.  For the same reason we do not have BC up so high as the media.  Despite their unbeaten record they haven't played any tough teams either.  They meet their first real test this weekend in Virginia Tech … who here thinks BC will win?!  We don't think they will and so we have them at #4 ready to drop.

We still have Oklahoma above LSU, but read more

BlogPoll Week 7

This week's BlogPoll had more movement (see all our BlogPoll ballots). Our top 10 lineup continues to look odd. Once LSU dropped Cal had a historic chance to take over the top spot. But having to play a backup with 0 experience and nearly pulling off the win at the end, we can’t take too much away from the Bears in the poll. They should have won that game even without QB Longshore. We don’t drop LSU that far either because they are a dominant team that played a good Kentucky squad away and certainly had a chance to win. Oklahoma was our pick from the 2nd week and we think that loss to Colorado after being comfortably ahead was an aberration. This team is good and could be playing in the title game. Ohio State has much to prove still but obviously takes the top spot over all teams including South Florida, who has looked good in some decent wins. Auburn’s continuing strong play makes South Florida’s win over them look even better. But we cannot put them higher than 4 until they play the teams LSU and Oklahoma are playing regularly. BC on the other hand has no real tough games and the ones we’ve seen weren’t all that impressive to even deserve the high ranking we give them. That will change in a couple of weeks when they play Virginia Tech away.

BlogPoll Week 6

This week's BlogPoll had more movement (see all our BlogPoll ballots).  What a strange top 10 lineup we now have after more bizarre upsets.  LSU got lucky but you have to give them credit for going for the win over Florida.  The Gators disappointed at the end of that game but they stay high in our rankings because what team below them would really beat them in a matchup??   Seriously.  They still have a brutal schedule ahead of them in the SEC so that story is not finished being told by any measure.  read more
