UCLA Football Is Back
As we head into our final day here at DD, there has been a huge change in the fortunes and perception of our football program … just as we and all Bruin fans have long hoped for. In his first week, Coach Neuheisel has put UCLA back on the national scene, appearing on national broadcasts and local broadcasts, and in papers throughout the nation, too many times to count. Big time analysts are talking about UCLA football in reverential tones again, almost giddy that UCLA is back. When was the last time we heard that?? Recruits are staying committed, a 5-star QB might transfer in, top assistants are staying, new assistants with experience are coming to UCLA, and the fan base is ecstatic. All in just one week.
We thought we'd end our time here on DD with some posts looking back at the past. But as Coach Neu has brought back true excitement and promise to our football program at long last, we have come to realize that the past holds no interest for us, at all. Since the announcement of Neu's hiring and then his hiring of Walker, there is no more battle for us or Bruin Nation. We got what we wanted!! We all won!! Now that that is clear the past is dead to us. When Dorrell was fired, we thought at the time it would be fun to go over old posts or publish some of the emails and comments we received from the wackos out there. We can't even bother with that anymore. We have a football program again, and we are going to enjoy every minute of it.
Today is a slow news day on the football front, the first in over a month. Maybe it was meant to be … tomorrow will see our final post. Go Bruins!!

Thank you for the service you provided long time Bruin football fans like myself and others.. Your final entry was right on as usual.. Only thing left would be getting Norm Chow in as the offensive coordinator..
PS: Met the Washington State running back at a restaurant a week ago. He mentioned that it was his running which won the game against UCLA. His motivation was that he wanted to come to UCLA but was passed over (and wanted to show the UCLA coaching staff what they missed out on).
Editor: this comment has been edited to delete political content. No offense, this site is about UCLA football only.

DD
Why can’t DD just change your name and continue informing us loyal bruin fans about our football program? Is it about cost?
GO BRUINS.

If DD is going politcal per UCLA FAN,then it is time to shut the site down.

Daniel .. its about cost in terms of time. This site barely makes enough money to cover operating costs. So, we have been doing this as a public service, as passionate Bruin alum football fans. It just takes too much time. We will explain more tomorrow.

DD: Thanks for editing out the political content.
You have done so much on behalf of Bruin football and we owe you a debt of gratitude.

I got here after the political stuff was deleted, so I have no idea what it said. But I would like to thank you for deleting it — much appreciated. If I want to talk politics there are a million other blogs for that.

Thank you DD for all your hard work! I, for one will truly miss this site and will have to find other ways to fill my evenings after the kids go to bed. (Except Thursdays and Saturdays when I can TiVo the BBall games.) I also wish the site could continue in some form, but understand time constraints. Maybe you’ll see me at BN in the future. Cheers and GO BRUINS!

DD,
At the risk of piling on, please accept my sincere thanks as well for the forum and focusing the blowtorch of opinion of enlightened UCLA football fans on the posteriors of those who made the decisions.
Please advise us if/when you will resurface!
(And my thanks as well for eliminating unnecessary and distracting political commentary.)

Congratulations to DD administrators and fans for your input…and for reviving our football program! It is because of you (and mainly because of you) that we have hope for our future now…especially having SuC football shoved down our throats these past few years. You have indeed made a tremendous difference, and my hat’s off to you!
