It’s Official: Reggie Moore New WR Coach
Update: The ND paper got it wrong. Reggie Moore has been hired by coach Neu but his position has yet to be determined, per the official press release from UCLA.
It's official. While Coach Neuheisel was on the national radio programs yesterday morning, then solidifying the key defensive coaching staff (Walker et al), and getting back on the radio shows and tele-conferences, he was also nailing down an offensive coach, former UCLA receiver Reggie Moore as our new WR coach. Reggie has been WR coach for North Dakota State for the last 4 years. Brrrr. Anyhow, here is the news:
North Dakota State assistant football coach Reggie Moore – the cog behind a recruiting pipeline to Houston – is taking a similar position with UCLA. The opening is a direct result of the Bruins hiring Rick Neuheisel as their head coach this week. Neuheisel was Moore’s position coach at UCLA when Moore played for the Bruins. Neuheisel then hired Moore as a graduate assistant in 2003 when he was the head coach at the University of Washington.
“UCLA in my mind is potentially a top 10 job if they do things right,” said NDSU head coach Craig Bohl. “While we’re disappointed in losing an excellent coach, we’re excited for Reggie.” Moore was a three-year starter for UCLA finishing his career in 1990. He coached high school football for four years in Houston, an area where NDSU has nabbed several players in the last four years.
Even the NDSU coach knows what apparently Brian Dohn, Bob Keisser, Terry Donahue et al do not, that UCLA is a Top 10 job!! We like this guy. But back to the news, obviously Reggie is a known commodity to Coach Neu, so we trust he can actually coach, unlike former high school assistant Eric Scott … now former UCLA WR coach (the WR were AWFUL this season). We trust that Coach Neu will keep Scott on staff somewhere in a recruiting role if Coach Neu feels he would be a great addition. Go Bruins!!

Scott will have more time to burgularize apartments in Norwalk now. He was a terrible coach, but we were doing a public service keeping him off the streets.
PHIL @ 9:31 am:
Dude get a life. He wasn’t even charged with a crime. Let’s lock up all of these hollywood (e.g. Paris & Brit) stars who drink and drive…
Bruce Nagy @ 10:01 am:
Even if KD had been retained, I think Eric Scott was gone. You got the feeling that KD and, more importantly DG, were very, very, very embarrassed by the situation and that Scott was not entirely truthful about his background. While he was not charged, you have to admit the circumstances in Norwalk were quite “strange.”
Bay Area Bruin @ 10:42 am:
Scott was on the staff for one reason, recruiting. He was a coach at Crenshaw, a school with a lot of recruits that we go after. I like the sound of Reggie Moore’s ties to Houston, there are a ton of good football players down there.
J.J. @ 11:04 am:
to all my fellow Bruins, isnt it awesome that Ucla football is exciting again! R.N. has been on the move since he was announced as the H.C. and I think he is already making noise and changing the face of Ucla. football hasn’t been this exciting since the Toledo era! Go Bruins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
mattybruin @ 11:09 am:
Interesting. From talking to the players - they thought Eric Scott was a far better coach than DJ McCarthy was - who is now with LSU.
JRBruin @ 11:21 am:
yeah, and the players also thought that KD was a great coach.
Tommy Bruin @ 11:37 am:
How would the players know what a good coach is? They’ve been playing for Doofus for the last 5 years and losing to BYU in the Las Vegas Bowl.
Louis @ 12:35 pm:
Exactly Tommy Bruin; the player’s are finally going to know what good coaching really is. My hope is that the player’s who reportedly did not practice hard as was reported by Dorrell himself back in summer camp, are long gone. As for the player’s that remain I hope they are dedicated enough to accept that things will be run in a more efficient and professional manor and practice hard. I know Neuheisel is a player’s coach, but I hope he disciplines or kicks off the team any malcontents that liked having it easy when coach Dorrell was in charge.
JB @ 3:31 pm:
Reggie Moore is a great hire. He was coached by Neuheisel, so he knows exactly what Rick wants. When UCLA was at its strongest, they were getting kids out of Texas left and right. Reggie’s ties to Houston will be a huge factor in recruiting. Great hire Rick!
CalPolyBruinFan @ 5:24 pm:
The report doesn’t say that Moore is taking the wide receiver coaching spot. Just that he is taking a similar spot as an assistant coach (as opposed to a coordinator I suppose). The official UCLA site is saying that Moore is coming in to coach a position still yet to be determined.

REGGIE MOOORE,
Great to have you on the staff.
Waith untill later to relocate here and get you tush into a airplane seat heading for Houston where you have always recruited so well for the North Dakota State Bison.
Shopping List:
2-3- offensive lineman all must be Outland Trophy Caliber.
1 - quarterback who can pass as well as run, over 6′5″ and can lead like Tom Brady.
1 - running back over 6′1″ and 220 with 4.4 speed, great moves and hands like yours.
Take a RV over to west Texas and stop anyplace where you see some big nasty boys tossing hay bales or throwing steers around and find out if they have grades and can play linebacker. Bring back 4 please.
While your at it stop at a few of those Texas JC’s and grab the biggest, toughest defensive lineman they have bring him bck well fed in that RV. Bring that cattle prod his coach used on him in JC we may need it to help him find his way to his classes.
Thanks Reggie
