Brian Dohn Promotes Pro-Walker Site, Threatens Neuheisel Administration

Brian Doh!n is now promoting a Hire Walker website on his blog and he sets the stage for a long lived attack on Rick Neuheisel in an attempt to dissuade Dan Guerrero and Gene Block from hiring him.   This is our beat press!  Doh!n:

There are a few websites who have made it known they want nothing to do with DeWayne Walker as UCLA's next coach. That said, here is one that is pushing for him:

Nice … he doesn't link to the websites that are anti-Walker, nor does he mention them, but the Hire Walker site gets his link, his traffic and a plug. Nice bit of fair and balanced journalism there.  Furthermore he lays this bomb on his site:

In light of UCLA interview Rick Neuheisel for a second time last week, I found this quote from a Daily News story written by Billy Witz.  During athletic director Dan Guerrero's press conference announcing he fired Bob Toledo as coach, Guerrero said:

“It's all about having the right environment,'' said Guerrero at an afternoon press conference that was packed with media, football players and athletic department employees. “I didn't want to create a situation where the first transgression where one of our kids may have, the first bad call that a coach may have, would dredge up some really negative things in this program. I felt a change in leadership was necessary.''

That, folks, is a threat.  Brian Dohn is saying that if Neu is hired the press, meaning himself, will go after Neuheisel from the get go. Forget the 5 long years of fluff and goodwill they say Dorrell deserved … Doh!n, remember, argued time and again that Dorrell should be given more time even AFTER losing the SuC this year.  Neu will be on the chopping block from the word go. Heck, Neu is on it now.  And Brian Dohn has the ax in his hand already, sour that he lost his fight for Dorrell and now may lose his fight for Walker.  Strange how we wrote about this very possibility this morning, and Dohn publishes this quote this evening.  Wonder if there isn't a battle raging??

The more I read his crap the more I hate him. Dohn is an IDIOT. He should be stripped of his job for the rediculously biased and ill informed reports he gives.

DigDog @ 8:51 pm:

Brian Dohn for coach.

Guerrero, you can fuck up the UCLA program completely, and for the next decade, by simply hiring the idiot who thinks he knows what he’s doing — Brian Dohn. Then we can simply change a few letters on the URL and have Dumpdohn.com for the site.

Either that or get some testicular matter between your legs.

tyler lyon @ 9:31 pm:

For everyone, including me, who wants Rick hired, this is great news! For a beat reporter to start a website to promote an assistant coach on his beat to be hired as a head coach severely undermines that coach’s chances of getting the job. Recall Kurt Streeter’s blog? That did Dorrell no good. If Guerrero hires Walker, part of the blowback will now be that he caved in to PC pressure from the media as opposed to having some balls and hiring an experienced coach. If Guerrero hires Walker now with the bozo, Dohn, from the Daily News leading the charge, Guerrero will be seen as a huge laughingstock.

DumpDorrell @ 9:38 pm:

tyler that site is not Dohn’s, here merely promotes it. But your point is a good one.

DumpDorrell @ 9:39 pm:

DigDog … hilarious.

DumpDorrell @ 9:41 pm:

ATP .. what happened?? Please do not leave. Our mission is nearly accomplished we need you to go the final yard. Man, we have been doing this for 2 long years. We are almost there … we need you man.

Doug @ 9:43 pm:

Bring Back Rick!!! Bring Back ATP!!!Bring Back Rick!!! Bring Back ATP!!!Bring Back Rick!!! Bring Back ATP!!!Bring Back Rick!!! Bring Back ATP!!!Bring Back Rick!!! Bring Back ATP!!!Bring Back Rick!!! Bring Back ATP!!!Bring Back Rick!!! Bring Back ATP!!!

Doug @ 9:47 pm:

I am hoping DG is not as stupid as it seems to all of us now. I am hoping Block as an old friend of Golden picked up the phone and called him and said thanks but we are going in another direction and to save face instead of it looking like UCLA rejected him, let him gracefully pull his name out of the running.

I hope we all see a puff of smoke coming out of the Royce Hall chimmney by this weekend.

Go Bruins!!! Bring Back Rick!!!

BruinBuddy @ 9:49 pm:

More crap flows from Dohn’s mouth in one day than reaches the Hyperion plant in one year.

Doug @ 10:06 pm:

Have you checked out their site……this guy Clone12 is their primo blogger…..The guy was in the UCLA Marching Band and is now an expert on the next head coach?????

Please…this is damn funny.

I would put ATP up against Clone 12 anyday!!!

DigDog @ 10:15 pm:

OK. It is time to reveal all. ATP is not leaving. He is actually . . . R I C K N E U H E I S E L . . . giving us cover for all this folderol.

Hire ATP!

JC @ 10:24 pm:

HIRE DW AS HEAD COACH. BTW I TOUGHT THIS WEB SITE WAS GOING TO BE SHUT DOWN AFTER DORRELL WAS FIRE. DID I MISS SOMETHING

DumpDorrell @ 10:27 pm:

JC .. yes you did. you missed that our job will be finished once we hire a proven successful experienced head coach.

Dorrell Hates Me @ 10:48 pm:

I just got done reading Brian’s material… “Inside UCLA” He doesn’t know UCLA. Who is this guy???

All SkyWalkers with your heads in the clouds,

We want a Head Coach with Head Coaching experience. Experience means that you have been a Head Coach.

DG should have appointed Coach K as the interim coach, which worked last time around. DG was too sensitive with everyone’s feelings… feelings. Leadership means you have to make tough decisions. What is best for UCLA? Giving SkyWalker a podium? Hanging the search out too long? Not having discussions with Head Coaches prior to firing Dorrell? Keeping Dorrell a year too long?

How long will we wait??? 2008?

Bluebruin (AKA Diego) @ 11:03 pm:

DG won’t be swayed by the Walker site any more than he’s swayed by our site. The sites won’t sway them, but the sites do have under-currents that can strike cords in their minds. That is truly what we’re after on these boards. The reason I don’t like it when someone degrades the site by going into a cursing tirade or nonsensical ramblings that interlace personal attacks with good information, is because it takes away validity from what we’re trying to do. This is seen only as a grouping of people that have nothing better to do with their team and have no idea about things. Frankly, this site is one of the better sites out there. This site provides deeper analysis of the situation than most radio shows and certainly many newspaper columns, but when people enter this site and write unfounded, personal attacks, it takes away from the site.

All we can do is somehow create a consensus about what we want for the future of UCLA football. It think if we’re able to discuss criteria that will send us into that direction, the true coaching candidate will surface. The problem is that there are forces out there that call themselves Bruin fans, but don’t realize that their words/actions perpetuate the mediocrity. they’re teh ones that need to be addressed. I’m trying like crazy to exchange with those people. People like JC is someone that truly baffles me. Is he a true Bruin fan? Was he fine with KD? Was he fine with the last 37 yeas of mediocrity? Does he really believe that hiring a coach that has never had any head coaching eperience is the proper way of overturning nearly 40 years of mediocrity???

I just don’t see how these people see Walker as a viable option, unless they have a different agenda for UCLA football than the one true, hardcore fans, who have been at this for several years have.

John W. Reagan @ 11:06 pm:

It’s official, now I’ve seen everything!

Brewnz @ 11:22 pm:

I can’t fit in my mind as well, Diego, on how anybody can deem DW as an appropriate coach for us. I try to put myself in their shoes and think of a valid reasons for supporting him. I only find myself shaking my head and throwing my arms up in the air, my wife thinks I’m going crazy when she sees me doing that!

Jesse @ 11:49 pm:

Can someone please explain to me why June Jones has not been at least contacted or even mentioned as a possible successor to Dorrell? The man has even said that he wanted the job and if his offense is the one that is being used in football today, should we not even talk to him and see if he is indeed interested in the job.

December 27, 2007

Tommy Bruin @ 1:18 am:

Hire Jones. The run and shoot is not a “gimmick”. How many times do the Patriots line up with 4 wide receivers? If it’s working for them, why can’t we try it? Whatever happens, I hope they don’t hire Walker. He and his “supporters” act as though he’s somehow entitled to the job because of his 2 years as DC. Uh, no. He’s part of the old Dorrell regime and should have been fired along with Dorrell. Hopefully the next coach will come in and clean house and set us on the path to respectability.

David75 @ 1:56 am:

There is no reason to keep the name of this website:DumpDorrell. If it is not too much trouble, rename it: DUMPDEWAYNE. You can have the people who log on to DumpDorrell automatically re-routed to DUMPDEWAYNE. (just a suggestion) Walker should be honored if asked to stay on as the Slickster’s DC. He has no qualifications to be a head coach, certainly at UCLA–especially after the Utah, WSU, Arizona debacles. There are 3 coaches with experience that can turn this thing around and fill the Rose Bowl with exciting football: Mike Leach, June Jones and the Slickster. I cannot sit through another season of boring football watching our QB’s get crippled and wondering whether DW’s defense is going to show up.

Brent @ 8:16 am:

This thing has been a disaster from the beginning. How can you fire the HC and leave his assistants in place until June? What kind of respectable candidate could possibly accept this? I wouldnt want Jay Norvell running the cappuccino machine at my local Starbucks. Yet, the new guy has to keep him around, just because hes under contract? Are you kidding me?

The only conclusion is that DW was notified before the season was over that he was the guy and he would keep Norvell. The rest of this so called search is just window dressing to appease the people that wanted KD gone.

UCLAN @ 8:56 am:

If Walker gets hired, it will actually be a worse decision than hiring Dorrell. That is because Walker comes after Dorrell, when anyone but a moron would realize that this is not the way to hire coaches. Plus, I think that Walker is a trickier, less admirable person than Dorrell, and will cause even more damage to this program, if that is possible. I have never in my life seen an assistant coach have a website devoted to him, where his brother is invited to write things favoring him. This whole thing is making me ill.

Jim @ 9:21 am:

Sounds like Block will demand that RN must hire DW as DC in order to get the job. I still think this smells of PC.

mark @ 9:58 am:

Jay Norvell in ‘08! He deserves the HC job after lighting up BYU for 16 points. DeWayne Walker can be promoted to AD, and DG can be promoted to Chancellor, and all the precious recruits remain happy.

Ted Cole @ 10:24 am:

For the most part the comments on this site make interesting reading but does anybody really think that they will influence Guerrero’s decision on hiring the next head coach?

Big Moe @ 12:22 pm:

I hate the waiting game as much as everyone else here…but I simply can’t believe that DG will hire DW as HC. Think about it…just three weeks ago he said he wanted to bring in a new HC - who actually had Head Coaching experience!! Well, that leaves out Walker! Furthermore, if Walker was that hot a commodity, how come his only real chance to be a HC (at least to the best of my knowledge) was at Wazzou…only to be bumped by a guy from Eastern Washington?? So, Ty Willingham’s hot on his trail for DC as UDub…OK take him away from us already! That will at least end this rediculous waiting game!! He had his “big opportunity” and we lost a miserable game to BYU…is that something we should be proud of? He lets his players travel on their own to Vegas, and let’s them “do their own thing” in the worst possible place for college kids. He just doesn’t get it! Look at Hawaii…just arrived in New Orleans, also a pretty crazy place over New Year’s for college kids. June Jones has set complete limits over where they can go…set up curfew for players…won’t let them leave the hotel without supervision. They are also men…but at least Coach Jones knows a thing or two about responsibility in keeping his team together, without the many chances of getting in trouble. Finally, we keep hearing from Doh!n and the other Dorrelistas and Walkeristas about the great recruiting job Walker has done for the coming year, and that we could lost a lot of recruits if we don’t hire Walker. Did you see the USA today this morning??? It has a complete listing of the High School All-Americans…not one - not one single, stinking, freaking player - has either committed to UCLA or is even considering them on his “final choice” list. So please, let’s stop talking about this “incredible” recruiting class we have next year. Let’s make a clean sweep…start with Slick Rick to breathe life into our program, pick his own staff, and move forward!! Let Walker go to U-Dub or anywhere else if he wants. Let Rick bring in his own DC and we’ll fix our program, sooner rather than later!! GO BRUINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bruce Nagy @ 5:02 pm:

Brian Dohn, like most writers NOT named Jim Murray or Bud Furillo, is a PIMPLE ON THE ASS OF SOCIETY. Got an idea. Since he doesn’t understand that a “journalist” is supposed to be impartial, his credential should be pulled. He can buy a ticket like the rest of us. Screw him….who really cares anyway.

Bluebruin (AKA Diego) @ 5:31 pm:

Big Moe- the problem is that he later said that no experience doesn’t eliminate you. If he was stuck on hiring a coach with experience, Walker wouldn’t have earned a second interview, or be in the race this late. Moreover, DG, when he was hired as the AD, said that he expected UCLA to be top-5 in both football and bball. Some months after, he hired Karl Dorrell. How do you say that you want to build a dominant, big time program, and then hire someone without coaching experience??

BruinBuddy @ 5:48 pm:

If DW is such a hot recruiter take a look at the LA Times All Prep team and see how many are coming to UCLA. FUSC got twice as many and Fresno got just as many as we did.

Don’t give me this crap what a hot recruiter he is. Scott gets his homies and DW lands a few, except for some good DB’s and Knox, I see nobody exciting.

DW please take your moral victories and Eric Scott up north where those Huskies might be impressed.

Tommy Bruin @ 5:58 pm:

Doug wrote about the WWW site: “Have you checked out their site……this guy Clone12 is their primo blogger…..The guy was in the UCLA Marching Band and is now an expert on the next head coach?????

Please…this is damn funny.”

Was Clone12’s real name Brian Suksomwong? I read about him being an ex-UCLA band member, didn’t know he was also a blogger for weareretardedandwantwalker.com

Jim @ 6:16 pm:

We have one of the best drama schools in the world. I think DG may have attended it. What could be more dramatic than this suspense thriller. Please make it a happy ending
