Dan Guerrero Speaks …
By now you know that Dan Guerrero issued a press release regarding the search:
"Our search for a head football coach at UCLA is progressing. Within the last week, we have done a lot of fact-finding and have also been involved in detailed discussions with some candidates. We will meet with other candidates in the very near future.
"I know our fans and donors have a strong interest in the search and I certainly appreciate their support of our program. Our goal for the search is to find the best head football coach for our program. We are working diligently and I am confident that we will achieve our goal."
A couple of points. Obviously, the interesting note is that Guerrero has been involved in "detailed discussions with some candidates" … plural. The only publicly revealed interview has been that of DeWayne Walker. Good to know that there have been others and DG has been quiet about it. Also, revealing the Walker interview removes the guessing on that, and leaves Walker and the team to prepare for Vegas. There are other candidates as well. And that's good too.
The other point is that it is clear that DG is listening to fans and donors. This PR was obviously for us. Keep up the emails to Dan and we will keep talking about what the fans want. We have mentioned many times that one of the first people to sign up for our daily emails was a Morgan Center staffer. We know they have been reading this site. News about what fans are saying clearly gets to DG. Hopefully, the era of mediocrity, the culture of mediocrity, will soon see its end despite the rabid efforts of the Dorrellistas and Walkeristas. ABW!!
