Deinhart, Sporting News: Sources Say Dorrell Already Gone

Not much more needs to be said here.  From Tom Deinhart of Sporting News:

UCLA

Several sources have told me that Karl Dorrell will be coaching his last game in Westwood this weekend.

Despite the obvious error, Deinhart may actually have something here.  Deinhart, you might recall, caused a little bit of an uproar earlier this season when he reported that a source told him Dan Guerrero had met with DC DeWayne Walker to talk about potentially replacing Dorrell (interim or otherwise).  The internets went crazy and Morgan Center had to issue 2 statements, if we remember correctly, first denying the report, then clarifying it.  Beat reporters tried to blow off Deinhart's report as bogus, shoddy "journalism."   But Deinhart stuck to his story … and in the end Morgan Center had to admit that a private meeting between Guerrero and Walker did in fact take place … and that they discussed Walker's personal development!

So, now that you know some of the backstory to Deinhart's UCLA sources please reread that quote of his. Read the entire article to get the latest scoop on the college football coaching carousel.

CNN/Sports Illustrated is now playing the race card. A prememptive strike perhaps? http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/11/27/roland.martin/index.html
I posted yesterday Dorrell will be fired, so the headlines here are no suprise.

Pez @ 11:49 pm:

He was fired a couple of weeks ago and announcement was to be delayed until after USC game.

P.S. Dont give my email out to public

Pez @ 11:50 pm:

And yes they have contacted Skippy about coming home for the Holidays!

I wouldn’t say CNN/Sports Illustrated is playing the race card. That’s Roland Martin’s take, and anyone familiar with Roland Martin wouldn’t be surprised at his speaking out on this issue.

Tom @ 9:36 am:

Man,I really hope this is true. Not to put down Pez, but are these comments credible? Even if we do beat $UC? If it is then Merry Christmas to the Bruin Nation!!!

AGBruin @ 10:07 am:

Google (News) Mike Leach and UCLA, it’s pretty interesting. He WANTS to come to UCLA ala Howland.
