Finished … 21 Days Left: ASU 24 UCLA 20
ASU gave us several chances to win and Karl Dorrell gave us another loss. Nice job Karl, coaching hard, answering the bell! Now that those silly bracelets Dorrell had the team wear for the second straight year are finally going to be cut off, maybe this team can be fed some humble pie. All the talk of national championship (when we had 2 losses), all the talk about Pac-10 championship (just this week), all the showboating on the field when we were losing, the ridiculous penalty at the end of the half … this group of players are undisciplined, unfocused and unprepared to be successful. Obviously, that falls on the coach. Maybe with this big piece of humble pie they can learn something in spite of their coach.
We liked how inspiring Ossar is but he needs work. We like how gifted our players are but they need discipline and development, something they aren't getting from Dorrell, Walker, or Training Jay. The defense cut down ASU's offensive production like we said they would. Special teams carried us like we said they needed to. And we created turnovers. But we gave up stupid turnovers as well. We called a conservative game in the second half. And we had the usual bonehead penalties at critical times. This game was definitely within reach.
21 days left folks … and Dorrell is hopefully gone. It's still not a lock. We need to keep the pressure on. We will have the Daily Bruin ads going this week. We noticed one person made another contribution. Nice. More later …

John W. Reagan @ 8:28 am:
The administration should fire Dah-rrell Monday, then maybe we can still salvage a decent recruiting class. He’s a joke, and as long as he is “our” coach we are a joke. It will be sad to see what Oregon does to the Bruins thanksgiving weekend. Folks, it’s going to be ugly. It will be a train wreck, Oregon will score early and often. I just hope the Ducks don’t injure our “QB.” Nate Longshore from Cal is still hurt from Cals victory in Autzen. Thank God basketball has started!
Diego @ 9:18 am:
EVERYONE LISTEN UP!! Don’t be distracted with Bball; I know it’s easy to do, but we can’t afford that right now. I know many of you believe that KD’s firing is a certainty, but I cannot stress to you that it is NOT! There are still others of you who would like to see KD fired, but you know the UCLA administration all too well, therefore you have resigned to simply accepting the mediocrity in which we dwell. You turn your heads and start reading up on basketball.
I know how it is. I know that you don’t want to feel disappointed, angry, or sad when you can feel good by simply watching UCLA hoops, but please, I implore you, DO NOT GIVE UP ON THE FOOTBALL PROGRAM!!
This is not the time to ease back. This is the time to ATTACK! We must attack with everything we have right now. Starting tomorrow morning, I will doulbe my efforts. I will begin calling radio shows, writing more emails, mailing more letters, and publicly denouncing the UCLA administration even more than I have. I will yank out all opinions rooted in using the injury excuse. I will write and speak detailed refutations to anyone that dares write or state that KD needs another break. Whatever reason they provide, I will refute with overwhelming zeal and overwhelming evidence.
WE CANNOT STOP! DON’T LET YOUR FRIENDS STOP! I have some friends that believe I’m wasting my time here; a couple of them are on my soccer team. I have verbally punished them for being so apathetic.
We are at a very critical time; very critical time! Do not let up!
GO BRUINS !!!
TommyBruin @ 9:56 am:
OK Diego, what do you really think?
I agree with you. We must move heaven and Earth to get this piece of crap gone.
Diego @ 10:16 am:
Well, Tommy, what I truly think is that DG is on the fence, and he needs a shove from us. Right now he’s being pushed by the apologist and the dorrelistas, so we have to counter by SHOVING back. This is by no means a decided issue. Those apologizing for KD have resigned to the rest of teh season and will bunker behind their injury excuse. As far as they’re concerned, that’s an iron-clad excuse. It is up to us to melt that iron by showing that injuries are not the cause of this mediocrity.
Anthony @ 11:06 am:
Keep up the good work. The Bruin nation supports everything you do.
Louis Miranda @ 3:03 pm:
At the beginning of the year I to got caught up in all the hype about the 20 plus seniors coming back. Then I started to hear stories about Dorrell and his staff not understanding why these guys didn’t practice to perfection and how at times they just didn’t practice hard at all. I didn’t write to this website back in those day’s but I had a real uneasy feeling going into the season. I don’t know what these player’s thought they had accomplished to think they could take it easy at practice but I for one am glad they will not be here next year..Yes, I do blame Dorrell and his staff, but the player’s also have a responsibility and all these seniors on a whole, showed little if any leadership and definetly little in the way of progress in their 4 years at UCLA. They were overated and their coaching and development was stunted by horrible coaching.I don’t know what guerrero is waiting for? Baylor fired their coach Guy Morriss with 2 games left. Just do it guerrero and let the healing and rebuilding begin now before the returning player’s lose hope of ever succeeding playing the game they love.
