Cut The Bracelets! Genius DC DeWayne Walker 34, UCLA 27
There is enough blame to go around today and we will get to it, but Osaar Rasshan gets plenty of praise. He had a very good game, despite the inaccuracy issues and put our team in a position to win. Why Karl Dorrell moved him to receiver only to never use him, then not have him ready as a backup when Olson went down is beyond explanation. The young man has raw talent … but once again talent gets wasted on a Dorrell coached team. Arizona beat us soundly today, no one can argue that the defense was tired, then sat on the ball. Any decent coached team could have beaten this Arizona team with our talent. It will be interesting to see who Dorrell blames this loss on (Training Jay? … he’s got to at some point right?!) and who DeWayne Walker fingers.
What else can you say?! DeWayne Walker’s inability to beat the spread offense and inability to develop a defensive game plan to win with consistency shone brightly today. Our offense and special teams put up enough points today to win this game, even if it took Dorrell to finally dump his idiotic plan to make Rasshan a bench warmer. It was DeWayne Walker’s defensive scheme and game plan that lost this game. We said it on the Bruin Show Thursday night … it was the defense that needed to step up, and they didn’t. So can we now finally stop having tools on the internet, no doubt many of them stooges for Walker, pushing DeWayne Walker’s name as a replacement coach?!!!
And can we now finally cut those ridiculous bracelets that Dorrell has the football team wear?!! “Finish Pac-10 Champions” … if we need a bracelet to remind us then why do we need our coach?! We know that it seems like Dorrell is absolutely gone as head coach .. but it’s not a done deal folks. Just today Brian Dohn was saying Dorrell’s job is safe (we cannot remember which posting so if anyone finds it let us know). So, donate to the billboard, as you can see there have been more contributions made. If we do not raise enough funds in time we will go back to all the contributors and ask if an ad in the Daily Bruin is acceptable or just return all the funds. We have an email into the Daily Bruin editor yesterday and waiting to hear back. We will keep you updated. Fire away with your thoughts … more later.

spread offense + ucla defense [walker] = UCLA loss
JC @ 5:37 pm:
Hey Genius,
Most defensive coordinators are having a tough time with the spread offense. Just ask Ohio State last year in the national championship game. D. Walker will learn from this and move on. I’m more pissed at Dorrell for not playing Osaar earlier in the season. This dude sat on the bench with no hope of any daylight. Now that the genie is out of the bag, meaning everyone sees the raw talent of osaar, now what. Does he got back to the bench in favor of Olsen or cowan. I’m not sure but something needs to be done with him. He seems to be a better Qb than receiver. Do something!

dumpwalker.com needs to get started. All we heard about before the season was the hype around the returning starters and the genius of Walker. He improved the D last year quite a bit, but the same old problems keep resurfacing. How can you not learn how to defend the spread at this level? Davis seems to be the only one playing with consistency and passion.
There have been so many injuries, but there should still be enough talent to beat these teams. How long has the O-line been playing together? Abandoning the wco and bruins start moving the ball. KD wasting talent, thanks for starting and keeping MBT in the Nortre Dame game. Another season down the drain. Good Bye Karl……..
I’m sure there will still be a contigent deluded enough to believe in the 6 year plan.

If we still print a ad in the Daily Bruin or LATimes, I think we need to shift gears by putting pressure the administration to hire a real head coach instead of a bargain coach or somebody with no experience, like DW. We shouldn’t badmouth DW, but just make the argument that we’ve been down this road again by giving the job to somebody with no experience and look where its gotten us to.
Bruins095 @ 5:59 pm:
I have more respect for DW than KD, but he is definitely not the answer for HC. He needs to show he can coach a consistent D with ability to defend multiple schemes and systems. Many teams are having trouble with spread, but you can’t give up close to 500 yards and expect to win. Teams are passing and running for chunks of yards against bruin D.
We can only hope DG is aiming high and takes a different road for the next hire. He should have enough clout and the budget to make a serious search for quality candidates. I’m so tired of watching every season crumble and having to listed to the usual excuses and BS. Time to clean house.
Kudos to OR, played well under pressure. I’m willing to bet there is more talent on the depth charts that isn’t being utilized.
Jim @ 6:26 pm:
Is it possible DW is laying down to hasten the KD demise?
Dick @ 6:40 pm:
Let’s face it–the assistants have lost this season; but it takes a quality head coach to attract quality assistants. Rick can attract those quality assistants!! AD, get with it!
Michael @ 6:54 pm:
Jim, I doubt it. Because if DW lays down to get KD out, he will probably leave with KD.
The real question is, can we get Brian Dohn to leave with KDDW?
TommyBruin @ 8:29 pm:
DW showed he is a true DUH-rell acolyte with his conservative defense today. He stepped it up a little in the second half, but where were the blitzes, stunts in the first half when it mattered. When he did start putting pressure on Tuitama, they shut him down. Bruce Davis was great today, so was Rasaan. Imagine what could have been if this team had been well-coached from the beginning of the year? DUH-rell and his whole staff should be fired right there in Tucson and have to walk home - no bus ride for them.
Really, how hard was this defeat to see coming - a spread offense with lousy stats on the road - it’s a formula for sure defeat for a UCLA team with a DOOFUS (mis)leading it. Another year flushed down the toilet, great talent squandered, PLEASE FIRE THIS INCOMPETENT FOOL AND ALL HIS MINIONS _NOW_!!!!
Z Barrow @ 8:36 pm:
I’m amazed by this crap! How the hell can they keeping falling to teams with losing records. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills! I guess I should expect it since KD has been doing this crap from day one. Watch him win out just to piss me off.
jeff @ 9:15 pm:
o.k. so dorrell is finally gone! whew! thank god! I am all for a new head coach with experience and the attitude to make us a national title team every year! I have to wonder though? the people who own this site! I mean do you watch the games at all!? seriously!? our defense had its problems, but I mean do you actually watch the game!? dewayne walker will not be the next ucla coach. but to say our defense lost us this game! are you freaking kidding me! our offense went 3 and out 5 consecutive sries! how the hell do you expect them to play when our offense is soo pathetic! that is rediculous! obviously the people here have never played football and have no-idea how tiring and demoralizing it is,when your offense can’t move the ball. so please! once again! watch the game o.k.? and dorrell should have been fired for not starting rashan at the beggining of the season and having a horrible knack for realizing talent. DW is a good D.C. and I think he should remaing the D.C. who-ever takes over as head coach! imagine though? what would have been had rashan started the season!? thank-god! Dorrell is gone and we can start building our own DYNASTY here at Ucla! Go Bruins!
landry clark @ 9:23 pm:
Since Navy beat Notre Dame, does that mean we couldn’t even beat Navy?
Aftab Husain @ 9:24 pm:
Dorrell should be fired now. The season is over for all intents and purposes. DG has to go after a big name coach can you say Terry Bowden. Dorrell has no clue and DeWayne Walker is as much to blame for the inconsistency this season. The vaunted defense has given up points to teams that have no business scoring.
TroySuCs @ 10:18 pm:
I have a few questions……
Will UCLA become bowl eligible?
Will UCLA lose to U$uC this year, which would ensure KD’s termination no matter the outcome of the ASU & OU games?
Will KD somehow get UCLA to ruin the PAC-10’s chances of having a team(oregon) in the BCS championship game, by actually winning the next game?
Unfortunately, I think the answers will be yes(barely), no and yes. This will garuantee another season of being comitted to mediocrity. It also ruins the chances of the PAC-10 showcasing one/two of its best teams in the BCSchampionship & possible Rose Bowl games, which BENIFITS THE ENTIRE CONFERENCE IN TERMS OF RECRUITING & $$REVENUE$$!!! And probably worst of all it will subject me to another pathetic underachieving performance by players uninspired by an overwhelmed & confused coaching staff. I look forward to the Bruins playing on Dec. 11th in the “WE SUCK AGAIN” Bowl against HAWII…..Thanks KD, for everything!!!….But most of all……
THANK GOD for BASKETBALL!!!!!!!!!!

Something that has been nagging at me watching the season progress, is what has happened to the team’s conditioning program. Anyone so much as looks at a Bruin player and they go down with an injury.
