Trev Alberts: Karl Dorrell Has Dug Himself Quite The Trench In Westwood
Editor's Note: We have been informed that the Trev Alberts FireMarkMay.com website is actually a farce (just like Dorrell). So the joke is on us apparently. Trev Alberts may still actually be Dorrell's biggest supporter right now.
Trev Alberts, a once Dorrell stalwart at CSTV.com, has joined the now long list of sports commentators, analysts and talking heads, in pointing out that Dorrell has not gotten the job done. You may remember Alberts as being the tool who said Dorrell was doing an "incredible job" in Westwood after last year's 7-6 season (thoroughly mocked here)! Now, just like Dorrell's second wife Matt Hayes, the Trevster, as he would have you call him, has turned on Dorrell.
Let us set it up for you. In his weekly college football picks on his website, FireMarkMay.com, Alberts noted how hilarious it was that he did not have to pick a winner in the Cal game because there was no Vegas Line on the game at the time (Thursday morning). It was hilarious because he had obviously picked UCLA over Utah and Notre Dame and got burned just like everyone else, and this time Vegas helped him out by not putting up a line.
As you know, Vegas did eventually put up the spread on Friday, and after UCLA returned the favor by turning Vegas on it's head again, Trev Alberts had this to say:
Good thing I didn't have to pick the UCLA game, that would have been completely out of left field. I have run out of excuses for this season other than total chaos….we can't even get the Wheel of Death out here because it won't stop spinning.
Trev was referring to more than just UCLA stunning the football world this year, but he used our pathetic program to make his point. But to get to the point of this post (this is taking long!), Alberts then neatly summarizes the situation in Westwood:

I know this wasn't a pick but REALLY?!?!?! Karl Dorrell has dug himself quite the trench in Westwood, winning just enough, just big enough to stick around. Watch them beat Southern Cal again….and their fans might actually boo.
Some fans are already booing Trev!! The Trevster is talking conventional wisdom now folks. The word is out, everyone knows. Dorrell is Lavin!! Dorrell is winning just enough to stick around - this point is being driven home in columns and posts across the college football world. And that is not what we want for our football team, it is not what the players or the fans deserve. It is not what Guerrero and Dorrell himself said they wanted out of Dorrell when he was hired.

WOW! I had no idea Trev Alberts had that website. I thought he was fired from ESPN, because he wanted a bigger position on the show. What’s the animosity he has with Mark May all about?

Diego .. not sure if there is any animosity as Trev doesn’t explain the name of his site. He did have on air arguments with May before he left/was fired from ESPN but some say it was part of the drama ESPN wanted them to show. It is a short-sighted name for a site. It’s already tired, just like Trev’s schtick.

In my opinion, the most important game of the two (Cal and WSU), is WSU, because you know what DUH-rrell loves to do after a big win . . . . lay a fat egg in the next game. We’ll see.

Thanks DD. Alberts did make me want to kick my TV several times, but there were other times where I appreciated his candor. Overall, I could see that he would tire people out quickly.
