BlogPoll Week 8
This week's BlogPoll was a little easier to fill in for a change (see all our BlogPoll ballots). There weren't as many losses to top 25 teams. South Florida lost as we thought they would thus vindicating our worse ranking for them than the media. They drop significantly because aside from their win over a good Auburn team, that should have beaten LSU, they have only played Big East teams which are not impressing us. For the same reason we do not have BC up so high as the media. Despite their unbeaten record they haven't played any tough teams either. They meet their first real test this weekend in Virginia Tech … who here thinks BC will win?! We don't think they will and so we have them at #4 ready to drop.
We still have Oklahoma above LSU, but LSU has shown some magic this season and if they win out they will definitely get our nod for the title game over any other 1-loss team. We like Florida despite their 2 losses because they have played one of the toughest schedules in the nation, lost close games against tough opponents, and could still win the SEC. But we can't put them ahead of 1-loss Pac-10 teams SuC and Oregon, who also had some impressive wins. ASU on the other hand has not had any impressive wins. Great for them that they started undefeated and won they games they should have … a prime example of good coaching. Last year ASU had mediocre Dirk Keotter, who had nearly identical record as Dorrell, and they pick up Dennis Erickson and look at where they are!! They will now finally start playing the tough part of their schedule and most certainly will not come out unscathed, but the fact that they are already bowl bound is an amazing turnaround and accomplishment. Explain to us again why UCLA can't hire a great coach?!
The rest of the ballot is just teams moving up after wins, taking spots vacated by the losers. We like seeing Michigan move up and would like to see them take out Ohio State to ruin the over-rated Big Ten. The only other note, Hawaii doesn't deserve its high ranking either … they haven't played anyone. They can go undefeated pretty easily but they do not deserve to be rewarded with a BCS bowl for their patsy schedule. Here is our BlogPoll ballot:
