Tom Deinhart, Sporting News: Karl Dorrell Being Watched Closely
Imagine if we on the internet had not made our rage displeasure about the state of our football program known to the media last year and all off-season. We would not be getting the kind of press on Karl Dorrell's incompetence we are getting so far this year. We are 4-1 and most pundits would be saying Karl Dorrell is doing a "great job in Westwood" had we all not collectively made it known that that is far from the case. Some in the press are no longer receptive to Dorrell's attempts to reduce expectations. Today, even as we break the top 25 in one poll and play for an easy 5-1 record Saturday against pathetic 0-5 Notre Dame at the Rose Bowl, Tom Deinhart of Sporting News keeps the pressure on:
I hear Karl Dorrell will be watched closely and needs to win pretty big down the stretch. He has picked up the pace recently and looks safe. Still … Should a change be made in Westwood, I'm told the Bruins want to hire a big, splashy name. Look for Boise State's Chris Petersen to figure in. UCLA would love to steal USC offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian. And a familiar name already being batted about is Norm Chow, the Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator and former USC coordinator.
I also have to think UCLA would look at Montana coach Bobby Hauck, a top-notch commodity who almost got the Stanford job last year. Hauck is an untapped gem. Maybe he'll be a guy Washington State looks at if it makes a change.
Nice. This kind of talk is great for our cause. It shows that even though we are 4-1 the MSM and others are NOT BUYING IT. And they shouldn't as we all know. Before last Saturday, none of the teams we played had a winning record, and now only BYU does at 3-2 in MWC. And down the stretch we play 4 top 25 teams, and 2 others who have Dorrell's number (Wazzu, Arizona). Yep, long way to go still for Karl to claim he's done the job he was hired to do, much less claim he's brought back the tradition to Westwood.
The talk of replacement coaches by Deinhart is premature and shouldn't really concern anyone. Sarkisian is a joke of a name and there is no chance in hell Guerrero would hire him, not after Dorrell. We will be talking replacements in much more detail when the time is right. There will be a ton of teams, quality teams and as many as 6 SEC teams, that will be looking for coaches. Guerrero will have to compete against more programs for lesser talent than he would have had to last year. Nevertheless, that is the situation and Guerrero should not shy away from it. Quite the opposite should be his position. He should throw UCLA's natural advantages around like the Titanic. Make waves and make a great coach a great offer. Show the football world that we are back … just like when we ditched Lavin and picked up Howland!!

Steve @ 9:29 pm:
With his talent KD should be 5-0 vs poor teams this far and blow outs.#3 by now. Down the stretch he will have problems.
Good to hear the buzz is heating up. Soon.
