Wednesday Roundup: The Hits Just Keep Coming
We're still not ready to talk Washington yet … we are still in WTF mode. Anyhow, great comments and ideas are coming into the site from new posters. Keep 'em coming. We will have a more definitive Replacement list, adding your suggestions, and as we said we will also launch a broad campaign to Dump Dorrell once the 1st Pac-10 conference loss happens. Our first offensive was to get the word out, and so many of you did … the MSM picked up on the anger right away and Dorrell and our football program is taking more hits. The good news is that the MSM is reporting in so many words how Dorrell is on the hot seat (here, here, here, here, here, here and here). Also, UCLA is now in ESPN's bottom 10, coming in at #5 worst in the country, behind powerhouse Stanford. We particularly like this quote from Charles Chiccoa of Scout:
Now in year five of the failing Karl Dorrell experiment and we're watching the same routine, over and over again; yet this latest absurdity seems finally to have torn it.
We got our message on ESPN radio as well. The question of Dorrell's competence is unavoidable now.
The stage is set for a huge show of force when Dorrell slips again, and he will unfortunately. We have had record traffic here at DD, over 2000 visitors a day, and its only the 3rd game of the season. All over the internet people are admitting they are changing sides from the Dorrell loyalist camp to the DumpDorrell camp. The only ones left supporting Dorrell are hard core cultists. Nevertheless, when we beat Washington this weekend, and we think we will, the Dorrell cultists will come out of the closet and defend him with more righteousness than ever before. So be prepared. But the talent at the coaching position just isn't there, as we have long since known. And this season Dorrell won't be able to hide it for too long. When the time comes to answer the bell … DumpDorrell and Bruin Nation will be there!
On to the news:
Bruin Show radio LIVE tonight. Call in to The Bruin Show LIVE radio program tonight at 6 pm and rant, lay down your smack … get it all out. DumpDorrell will be on the air live. Show up!!
- Mercury News: Beginning of End for Karl Dorrell. John Wilner of the Mercury News, has written a scathing post about Karl Dorrell. He makes the case that Dorrell will be gone soon. Wilner hits on the common theme we have been pushing at DD for over a year, "If Dorrell can’t win with this team — if he can’t get a veteran team to play hard each week — you have to wonder just how much he can win with any team. And if he can lose to Utah with this team, you have to figure he can lose to just about anybody." We should be giving this article more attention … read it its great.
- Brian Price in pads. Sadly missed in all this post-Utah meltdown, is the Brian Price reinstatement. The star defensive lineman recruit was cleared by the NCAA to finally play (thanks to Dorrell's incompetence he had to sit out until now). This kid has all the ingredients to be a great Bruin. And now he has the misfortune of having to lose his potential under Karl Dorrell's program. Still, we can't wait to see what he's got .. and by the looks of it, he might be in on Saturday for many plays.
- Ben Olson out. Also sad is the sudden loss of Ben Olson due to concussion. No MSM or beat reporter would ask Dorrell when BO got his concussion, but the underlying assumption is that he got it at the end of the Utah game, when the game was already lost. We lost Shannon Tevaga due to the inexplicable and indefensible decision by Dorrell to keep his starters in during a blowout loss, risking injury. So, now we lost BO and Tegava. Nice work Karl.
