Sporting News: UCLA = Fraudulent

And to top it all off, the MSM is hitting hard.  Sporting New's Pat Forde heads the list with his own list of The Fraudulent Four, putting UCLA at the head of the class of teams that "have sabotaged their fans' preseason optimism":

UCLA (11). The Dash foolishly ignored Karl Dorrell's past precedent, which screamed that his team would mail in at least one lame performance against an unranked team. (See: Stanford loss 2003, Washington State loss 2004, Arizona loss 2005, Washington loss 2006.) The Dash's faith in a veteran Bruins' team was rewarded with a 44-6 quit job against wounded, winless Utah. Pathetic.

Thanks Karl. Thanks a lot.  It's just mind-blowing that Karl Dorrell said that he's "brought back the tradition of UCLA football" before this season started in a nice fluff piece on Fox … and this is what his players and UCLA football are now nationally known for - "quit job," "lame," and "pathetic."  Fraudulent pretty much sums up Karl Dorrell's tenure at UCLA. Actually, that may be denying Morgan Center and Murphy Hall's own culpability in believing that a guy with 0 experience could learn on the job.  The experiment in on the job training should be officially over at the end of the season.

SD Bruin Rita @ 9:43 pm:

Hey - Do you guys have or make DumpDorrell.com bumper stickers? I really want to put one on my car! I also think it would be a great way to parade around town to let everyone know how we feel. Plus, I would be willing to donate money for it and the money could go towards replacing Karl Dorrell as HC. Also, do you have a membership for DumpDorrell.com? I wouldn’t mind paying money that goes into a fund to help replace KD. Imagine how much we could raise if each person that wanted him replaced pitched in $20 bucks for membership. Not only that but I think it makes a point too. Individually I know we are not that powerful because we are not super rich or anything, atleast I am not, but together as a anti-KD community we could help to entice DG to get rid of KD by showing him “look at how much we raised to get rid of KD!!”

At this point, I think any little thing works. Also, have you ever thought of having a DumpDorrell booth at the Rose Bowl during the games, kinda like BearWear does but this one would be to sign up members for a small fee like $20 bucks to help in the effort to get KD replaced?? All the money would go towards UCLA Football, for a new coach.

Just wondering about these things. I really want a DumpDorrell.com bumper sticker!

I know we’ve sometimes been hard on Chris Foster of LAT, but I found two sections in his Wednesday story that seem to be further proof the MSM is on to KD’s cluelessness:

Last week, Dorrell said that linebacker Aaron Whittington was suffering from “nausea,” then admitted Sunday that Whittington had suffered a concussion for the second consecutive week in the Utah game.

and

Everett was on crutches Tuesday and ruled out for Saturday’s game, two days after Dorrell said he had a sprained ankle that did not seem severe.

Now, some of KD’s early info no doubt can be attributed to players committed to playing and not revealing the true extent of their injuries, but the phrasing might have been a tad different with a coach a reporter respects.

OutOThsWrld @ 10:10 pm:

I’m totally with you on that one SD Bruin Rita. I think that’s the type of action we need to take and I don’t think they’d be difficult to do.

DumpDorrell @ 10:22 pm:

SD Rita

Well all good ideas, we like your passion and desire for action. The bumper stickers are easy but to get them made requires purchasing them in bulk and we actually yours is the first request for one. We looked into it last year and we will look into it again for when we launch the new campaign, which you can support, so we wont rule it out. We WILL have other new stuff, including tshirts, when we launch that campaign (after the 1st Pac-10 loss).

As for collecting money for a new coach. We would rather donations go directly to the Athletic Fund and such that supports the football program directly. Calling them and telling them you’d like to make a donation but will only do so for a new head football coach may not make them change their minds about Dorrell but it still sends a message. Having a booth at the Rose Bowl is definitely out because it requires permits and such, which they probably wouldn’t let us have, and we simply prefer to remain anonymous … too many wackos out there that support Dorrell.

Honestly, we do not believe the issue of firing Dorrell comes down to whether or not we have enough money for a replacement. The issues are not related in our opinion. Dorrell will be fired based on performance. Once that decision is made THEN Guerrero can and should look to alums to help in any way financially to ensure a good coach comes to UCLA. That is when a donation would be best made. We could be wrong …

OutOThsWrld @ 11:19 pm:

Performance? Are you serious? If it was performance that Dan Guerrero was looking for he would have already fired Dorrell. I know it’s early in the season, but come on! Doesn’t the past have any validity? Isn’t that proof enough that Dorrell is not performing? There is NO consistency. There are no signs of improvement. A team with so many returning starters and returning seniors should NOT be blown out, especially not by an unranked, injury plagued team. UCLA should not have to switch offensive coordinators every year or hire new assistant coaches every year. There is no reason we should beat USC, the number 2 team in the nation, then lose the next game to a crappy Florida St. team. How does a ranked UCLA team lose to an unranked Arizona team in 2005? How does that team get blown out by USC 66-19 that same year? How come UCLA has only wone 1 of 4 bowl games that it’s been to during the Dorrell era? Seriously, does Dan Guerrero need any more proof of poor performance? I really think it’s all about the money, so let’s get it to him.

DumpDorrell @ 7:30 am:

OutoThsworld … you’re preaching to the choir. Dan Guerrero’s metrics for performance are obviously different then ours. Still, for Guerrero - at least thats our contention, it comes down to performance, and not just wins and losses.
