Action!
We hear you … we are reading your emails. We are getting active here at DD and we know you want to get active too. Here is where we at DD think all Bruin fans should start (if you have any other ideas let us know):
- Get The Word Out. Contact any or all of the important people you see at the bottom of this email and let them know, politely, that Dorrell has got to go. Send 1 simple email, we provide the email list for you below. The contact list below includes Dan Guerrero, administrators and importantly media contacts, including Pac-10 media. Help build momentum!! Tell them Dorrell has embarrassed the program and has not come close to achieving any of the goals Guerrero and he himself set out for him when he was hired (win Pac-10, compete in BCS bowl, beat SuC - 1 win 3 losses) 5 years ago. Sign up for our daily email to get updates (sign up at the top right hand corner of site) or get our RSS feed on your My Yahoo, My Google, other feed reader.
- Get on the radio call-in shows. Yeah, its just call-in radio but we talk to these guys off the air and they have an impact, trust us. When they start saying "fans want Dorrell gone" it becomes fact in the eyes of Morgan Center. We hopefully will be on 1 or 2 of these shows sometime this week. We will keep you posted so that you can call in at that time to bring a show of force. We will also be on the Bruin Show this Wednesday evening at 6 pm. You can listen in and call in live.
- Dump Dorrell t-shirts. If you are lucky to have bought one of these last year, WEAR IT!! We have gotten emails, and have read postings, asking about last year's "Save Football" t-shirts …
we were told by the manufacturer that we were sold out. We most likely do not have any right now. We just got an email from the manufacturer saying that there may be some left. No promises. We won't know unfortunately until Sept. 24th when the contact is back from his honeymoon in Indonesia … nice timing. However, we have new ones planned for the big campaign that we have been working on since the beginning of the Summer. They are different and they depend on Dorrell losing 1 conference game. They are designed to get attention .. in a humorous way. We will let you know when they come out. - Petition. We have also received emails asking about a new petition. We don't think now is the time for that (more on that in bullet #5). One loss in conference play and it will be the right time. We will have a new petition written then and will need your help in getting the word out to have it signed.
- Important BIG Dump Dorrell campaign. As we have been talking about we have a big Dump Dorrell campaign planned this year that has many parts to it, including shirts, other comic memorabilia, a petition, and other cool things to get media attention, all based on 1 central theme. We think its hilarious - but more importantly, it is designed to get widespread attention. Our single goal here is to secure a new head football coach. So this year we have to do this absolutely right. It's not the right time in our opinion to roll out this campaign. We think the right time is after the 1st conference loss. It will all make sense when this loss does come and we ask for your help in launching the campaign. For now you have to trust us. The important thing to do now is to build up the talk of a coaching change, build the momentum. Build it up big so that when we do launch our campaign it will take off right away. The goal is to have the greatest impact on Dan Guerrero's decision making. 1 out-of-conference loss, albeit historic, just doesn't get us there … yet.
In the meantime, we are sending emails to all the media contacts we have to get the word out. We are active here at DD. We will be ready to launch our campaign nationwide when the 1st conference loss happens. Help us set it up by getting the word out!! Here is who you can contact:

It is not going to help to dump Karl and get some other low paid loser. Do you think SC has made money by paying Carroll so much? it is a business. We are driving a used Corolla in a MBZ league. Who is going to replace him? Is the Steve Mariuchi story true? They always go for the cheap guy. Why, when college FB makes so much $? I don’t get it. What other job would they pay a guy close to a million $ and let him perform so poorly? $40,000 guys get fired for less.
September 16th, 2007 at 10:58 am
Steve .. Boise State’s coach is making $550,000. We could double his salary. Just one example.
September 16th, 2007 at 11:15 am
Is he a good one? I don’t know him. Last year I heard at a sports bar that the rich alums wanted (and help pay)to get Steve Mariuchi after KD was fired. Then he beat SC and that ended.

For a University that excells in everything it attempts (on and off the field of NCAA competition) it’s time for a committment include Football in this unique realm of excellence. First to 100 is mocked more than it’s admired because of our hilarious mediocrity in the flagship NCAA sport. Time to cut our Dorrell losses and move on.
Head Football Coach Wanted: Preferably one with head coaching experience at the D1 or NFL level. A proven track record of success (a winner). A coach well respected by the coaching fraternity who can hire qualified/over-qualified assistants who can recruit, teach and motivate elite football talent. A coach who is committed to building a legacy of excellence and making his success at UCLA the jewel in his resume. A coach that is committed to UCLA until retirement and not interested in jumping on to the NFL or God-forbid, another college program (never happened in the history of UCLA football). Ties to the University is a plus but not a requirement. Karl Dorrell is a nice guy, he’s a Bruin and there might be a place for him at UCLA but he is not a head football coach period. Time to move on.
Short list of available coaches not requiring buyouts:
Rick Neuheisel
Steve Mariucci
Duane Akina
Short list of unavailable coaches requiring major buyouts(read unrealistic):
Jeff Tedford
Rich Rodriquez
Greg Schiano

Steve Mariuchi, seriously? I don’t know much about him, but I know his record as an NFL coach, and it isn’t impressive. Although, niether was Pete Carroll’s. I guess anyone with actual head coaching experience is better than Dorrell at this point though.

What about Marty Schottenheimer?
September 16th, 2007 at 6:25 pm
Nicely done. Now you know where to cross post this.
GO BRUINS.

Write Dan Guerrero…dguerrero@athletics.ucla.edu
Take 5/10 minutes and write the AD…
Stop going to the games - make him see 80,000 empty seats - that’s the only leverage you have.
I’ve already cancelled my plans for my two games next month

Larry Coker
Gary Barnett
If I remember correctly, they won their conference a few times and one National title.
September 16th, 2007 at 7:46 pm
Is not showing up to the games the answer?? I hate our coaches but I love most of our players, and its pretty demoralizing to play in front of an empty Rose Bowl.
September 16th, 2007 at 8:11 pm
Marth Schottenheimer?
Ahh, please no. All you need to know about Marty: he had Paul Hackett on his staff at one point.
September 16th, 2007 at 8:14 pm
Point taken.

Some quotes from Coach Wooden that DG should contemplate right now as they have poignant applicability to the current situation in the football program….
Don’t measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but what you should have accomplished with your ability.
John Wooden
Failure is not fatal, but failure to change might be.
John Wooden
If you don’t have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?
John Wooden

Coker inherited Butch Davis players won a national championship then it went downhill and he lost control of the team, remember the FIU game last year.
Barnett was not like at CU and remember his poor handling of the female kicker situation and female entertainment on recruiting trips….
Neuhisel!!! is the guy. Bruin, can recruit, and run an exciting offense. Many will bring up the UW gambling situation, but he was acquited of all charges and in fact won damages from both the NCAA and UW for the false charges and his firing.
September 16th, 2007 at 10:56 pm
There is one single person who is a lifelong Bruin, with head coaching experience that would never leave UCLA if given the job. He wouldn’t even break the bank.
College success…Check!
Pro Experience…Check!
Creativity…Check!
Alumni support…Check!
Most importantly, he would stand toe to toe with Cheaty Peaty and never back down. He would not accept this mediocrity.
Make the move right now…
Bruins for Neuhisel
September 17th, 2007 at 8:52 am
The one to blame for not getting him orig was Terry Donahue who gave us Toledo for offensive coord. Neu said he would have taken the head coaching job in a heartbeat. He wanted to be offens Co.

Rick Neuheisel

September 17th, 2007 at 4:17 pm
Only a team that lacks passion can play a game as the 11th ranked team in the nation, with a chance to return to the upper echelon in college football and get embarrased by an inferior team. As much as I like and want Karl Dorrell to succeed, the reality is he will never return UCLA to prominence. UCLA fans, players and alumni deserve a top rate coach to guide the football team. There is no reason that the Bruins cannot compete for national championships like USC. Why not think big and hire a championship type coach?
September 17th, 2007 at 4:32 pm
I’m a tad partial to “PICK RICK”.
