RealFootball365: Dorrell On The Hot Seat
Surprised we didn’t catch this earlier this month. Robert Rousseau of RealFoobtall365.com has a little write-up on Dorrell’s inconsistent tenure as coach that puts him on the hot seat this year. We don’t have much time to go into it so we will print some of what he has to say here. Even though Rousseau falls short of a full accounting of the weakness of Dorrell’s record, and suggests that Dorrell is doing well because he has a slightly better 4-year record than Donahue and Toledo had their last 4 years (not mentioning the important fact that those coaches were run out of town for those records), and gives the well worn SuC excuses for Dorrell’s record, his article is worth a read.
Thus, this would seem to be the story for Karl Dorrell. No matter what, he has a place in the NFL or NCAA as an assistant. But if he stumbles in his fifth season with the Bruins — a team, mind you, that’s bringing back 20 starters — he will likely be fired and his head coaching days will be over for now. In fact, when you look at the talent on Dorrell’s club alone, probably anything short of a nine- or 10-win season will get him canned.
