Daily Bruin Reporter Suggests Dorrell For Charger Job
The odd saga with the Daily Bruin is over. We are done with Ben “LaRouche” Azar, who makes no apologies for invoking a racist nazi to attack criticism he doesn’t agree with, and DB editor Jeff Schenck, who makes no apologies for not taking responsibility for the poisonous perceptions his paper creates. They are done with us. There will be no retractions or apologies and we will not stop with our factual case for firing Dorrell. More on the rest of Ben Azar’s piece later.
Oddly, another DB student reporter, Gilbert Quinonez, came out with a biting piece on the coaching vacancy in San Diego, arguing sarcastically that Dorrell is right for the job. We agree. We expect for Ben Azar to write another hit piece on the “LaRouche-like assertions” his fellow reporter makes in his own rag (which all DD readers know are the same assertions we have made here so often), but we aren’t holding our breath. Have a read of Quinonez’ piece.
Here is an excerpt:
Dorrell could be effective as a pro coach though.
You readers might be laughing at me, considering Dorrell has had three mediocre seasons at UCLA and only one good one, finishing 6-7, 6-6, 10-2 and 7-6. But in the NFL, all you need to be is mediocre to get into the playoffs sometimes, as 8-8 teams make the playoffs regularly (like the New York Giants did this season). While Dorrell is criticized in Westwood for underachieving and going 7-6, he could be celebrated in the NFL for going 9-7.
Nice. Extremist, but nice.

are the db writers retarded? Bill Belichick conservative. I pretty sure I read something recently on foxsports or in ESPN the Mag about how the patriots were one of the top teams that actually went for it on 4th down. If I’m wrong whatever, still doesn’t change the point that the DB sports staff is inept. I get more daily info from you guys and at BN, that and DB seems a week behind.
