Miami Names Charger’s OC Cameron Their Coach
While Bruin fans have to deal with the hypocrisy that Karl Dorrell has shown towards his assistants, other programs are moving forward. Miami named Cam Cameron, San Diego Charger’s five-year OC, as their head coach. Better pick up than Mike Shula who they interviewed, or Jim Mora. San Diego is destined to decline next year for so many reasons, but that’s their problem. Maybe its a good thing Miami hired a decent coordinator because if they went with a loser like Shula Jr. the appeal of a Dorrell would go down almost certainly when the Dolphins would take the field next season.
Rice filled their head coaching position vacated by the move of Todd Graham to Tulsa after one year at Rice. Div 1AA Texas State’s David Bailiff took the Rice position saying he would honor the full 5 years of the contract. Bailiff honored his full contract with Texas State, not taking the Rice job last year to keep his word. Anyhow, the 48 year old coach is yet another coach working his way up the system, proving himself every step of the way. Its actually more common than the inexperienced assistants that feel they deserve the immediate shot at a big-time program *cough* Dorrell *cough* when no such coach has won the national championship or done anything significant in many many years.
