Dump Dorrell

As The Coaches Bail

More coaches bailing on their programs and contracts.  Of interest: Oregon OL Gary Crowton left his job Monday to take the same position at LSU. He replaces Jimbo Fisher who left LSU to take the OC position with Miami under new head coach, and former DC, Randy Shannon. This might be good news for Ducks fans as that spread offense they were running with Crowton wasn't working .. not with either Dixon or Leaf at QB … at least against good coaches. Duck head coach Belotti was rumored on the Duck boards to leave coaching and take the Duck AD job, but that rumor hasn't panned out. Bottom Line, this may be good for the Ducks, and possibly bad for Dorrell and our team.

By now you might have heard that Tedford at Cal got an extension to 2100 or some distant future that he won't ever reach as head coach of Cal.  Everyone knows how these extensions and contracts work … they do many things, just not keep a coach in town: Petrino and Louiville, Saban and Miami, Erickson and Idaho, among others. Tedford was recently rumored to replace Carroll at SC should Carroll take the San Diego Chargers job that is likely to open up soon. Just rumors. The extension does help solidify the program for recruits. Although Cal loses Lynch and others, they will be tough this coming year.

And finally, Mike Shula, fresh from a firing at Alabama, looks like a nice pick up to Wayno and the Miami Dolphins. The mediocre Shula is interviewing with them. And people laugh when they say Dorrell would never be hired in the NFL!  Miami is looking in the dump bin for other potential candidates as well, such as recently fired Jim Mora (Atlanta Falcons), and Mary Shottenheimer whom they want to interview if he gets fired from the Chargers. Marty's 33 year-old son Brian, 1 year OC at the NY Jets has already removed himself from consideration for the position.
