Welcome 2007: Karl Dorrell Will Coach His Last UCLA Game This Year!!

Hope everyone had a great and safe New Year celebration! Welcome to 2007. Bruin fans should be mad happy because this is the last year Karl Dorrell will coach a game as UCLA Football head coach! That’s right. Our long suffering fans will be able to celebrate the next New Year knowing that UCLA Football will be done with Dorrell!

By now you know the gist of the story. With the team KD has next year, loaded with returning starters (only 3 starters are leaving) - most of them seniors (17 starters last Wednesday were juniors) - and the easier schedule, if Karl Dorrell cannot do what he was hired to do then he never ever will. KD cannot ask for a easier set of circumstances, ever.

‘07 Dorrell’s Best Possible Chance Will Not Be Enough

But we don’t think KD will get us there, to the “next level” Dan Guerrero talks about. As the Emerald Bowl has proven for the nth time, Karl Dorrell is not a champion coach. That fact is abundantly clear to all potential great Offensive Coordinator replacements - the necessary ingredient for our potential title run - and it will dissuade these OCs from signing on. Hopefully, KD will get his 9 wins so that an NFL team looking for some good press will hire him. We will go to a bowl game in December, hence our prediction that he will not coach a game in ‘08. But KD will not win the conference for the 5th straight year out of 5 years, he will not go to a BCS bowl game for the 5th straight year out of 5 years, and he will lose to USC for the 4th time in 5 years. Dan Guerrero will have to fire him!

But it will be next to impossible for Dan Guerrero to fire a UCLA football coach when he has 9 wins. Fortunately, Karl Dorrell knows that in ‘08 he loses nearly every single starter and the schedule is tougher. Karl Dorrell knows that in ‘08 he will not come close to winning the Pac-10 for the 6th straight year, or getting to a BCS bowl game for the 6th straight year, or beating USC. And Karl Dorrell knows that Dan will HAVE to fire him then.

‘08 An Impossibility For Dorrell

Karl Dorrell knows that if he comes back to coach one game in ‘08 he will ruin his coaching career. He will force his boss to fire him. He will be like Lavin, or worse, no one will want to hire him … except a small program that he will think is beneath him. Funny that. Like he ever deserved to coach a top Div 1 school with his coaching experience. Rather than risk having his name sullied, we think Karl Dorrell will move on to the NFL (even if its only a coordinator position). Even we don’t think Karl Dorrell is that stupid to come back for a career-ending ‘08, hence our prediction that he will coach his last UCLA game in ‘07.

So with the excitement that comes with the dawn of a New Year we bring these great tidings … this will be the last year of Karl Dorrell!!! Count on it.
