Dump Dorrell

Get The Daggers Out

Much of the national media has long been talking about a Southern Cal-Ohio State matchup as we all know. If that hasn’t made your blood curl as a Bruin fan, then these items might. The Yahoo Sports game preview for our matchup this Saturday puts in plain language what just about everyone, except us loyal Bruin fans, expects from UCLA football.

UCLA (6-5, 4-4) already knows where it’s headed for the postseason, set to face Florida State at the Emerald Bowl in San Francisco on Dec. 27.

Even though this has not been the best of seasons for the Bruins, they probably would call it a very good one if they can somehow shock the Trojans.

So a 7-5 season for our football team is a “very good” season?! Just who the heck wrote this garbage? There is no author attributed to this writeup of theirs but we all know the sentiment too well. Just now on ESPN Radio 710, they were talking about the game and said something along the lines of:

Just what does UCLA expect?? They can’t outrecruit Pete Carroll, they aren’t ever going to beat Pete Carroll. So why do they want Karl Dorrell gone? They are not going to find a coach that can outrecruit Pete Carroll. No one is going to do that. So you can’t judge Karl Dorrell based on that.

This is just a loser mentality and it’s coming from Southern Cal radio. But it does indicate loud and clear the resignation many have in the sports world and in LA that UCLA football is a JV program compared to the hated. And why should we expect it to be different? We should accept it. This is a Big Lie of course but too many Bruins have fallen for it, they have accepted mediocrity.

We already pointed this suprisingly candid Daily Trojan article out in the news section, but it’s worth pointing out again (thanks to a Bruinsnation poster for the heads up). Even the Daily Trojan points out how horrible Karl Dorrell is and how Bruin fans are to blame for ACCEPTING mediocrity and ruining a rivalry.

Dorrell is 28-20 in four seasons in Westwood, most of that bolstered by a completely improbable and fraudulent 10-2 mark last year. With losses by 38 and 47 points, they made this season’s outclassed Notre Dame look deserving of a BCS bid by comparison.

As the talking points at DumpDorrell.com point out, UCLA has only a single road win over teams with winning records, 7-16 overall against those with a mark of .500 or better under his regime. Dorrell has gone through coordinators like tissue, his bland demeanor on the sidelines reflective of how his Bruins have performed on the big stage.

The worst crime, however, is reducing the cross-town showdown between UCLA and USC into a second-rate rivalry.
… the blame rests with a fan base that can come to accept mediocrity.

Every person has a limit to how much failure they can take, even the most moronic complacent Bruin fan. Just how much losing should we accept?? Regardless of what happens Saturday, we have to make it clear to Dan Guerrero that we are not the type of community who want to be represented in the ways shown above. This is not who we are.  Go Bruins!!
