More Media Attention On Dump Dorrell Movement
Editors Note: The petiton received 600 signatures in the first 7 days it was live (11pm Nov 1 it went live). Nice! Keep it up, get the word out. Tshirts are available now. Get them for the OSU game.
The OC Register is the latest paper to acknowledge the Dump Dorrell movement. Although there was no link or direct mention of the petition, columnist Steve Bisheff noted that the "Dump Dorrell campaign heating up on the internet" was causing pressure on KD and the administration. He said "it's beginning to appear" that only a victory over Southern Cal can "save" KD's job. Nice. Although we think KD has lost the right to coach this great team already, we like to what we are hearing.
Bisheff may be wrong about Dan Guerrero being to blame for KD's hiring, however. Nestor at BruinsNation has the KD hiring story and KD was not Dan Guerrero's choice, according to his investigation. But Bisheff rightly points out the horrible gamble of deciding to hire a wide receiver's coach, a guy with zero experience, to take on the head coaching position at a marquee program when Pet Carroll already had a powerhouse across town. It was a horrible, shortsighted decision that was bound to be a failure. A big thanks to Bisheff for the aknowledgement.
Let us reiterate loud and clear. No one but Dan Guerrero knows what is going though his mind about KD and the football program. He has given no indication either way what he will do. It's his program and his legacy on the line. The Athletic Department is his and not the domain of all the Morgan Center carpet beaurocrats, holdovers from the Dalis/Donohue days. So if you hear differently on the internet, don't believe it.
Dan Guerrero can do something few ADs in any school have ever done, build national contenders in three major college sports, Basketball, Football and Baseball at the same time. We will soon find out if he will put the final major piece together or let it whither in years of mediocrity like Peter Dalis did. Our thoughts are clear, Dan Guerrero must act this year because it will be much much harder to fire KD later.
